On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Enrico Baj’s birth (Milan, 1924 – Vergiate, 2003), the Castello Sforzesco presents a small yet representative selection of the vast collection of graphic works, multiples, and artist’s books from the Baj Archive, housed since the mid-1970s at the Bertarelli Collection.Gifted by the artist, the archive consists of around six hundred works and documents the development of Baj’s research from its beginnings in the 1950s through to his more recent creations, with a particularly extensive focus on the 1970s.This selection aims to showcase the absolute variety of execution techniques and the extraordinary richness of materials—from braids to mirrors, from Lego bricks to Meccano—that characterize this remarkable collection, where some of Baj’s most iconic themes reappear, particularly Ladies and Generals.
