The Marconi Foundation is pleased to present the exhibition Achille Perilli. Carte 1946-1957 - Da Forma 1 all’Esperienza Moderna, including about forty works on paper comprised between 1947 and 1957.
This was a decade of fundamental importance for the creative path of the Perilli who, after endorsing the Forma 1 Manifesto, together with Accardi, Attardi, Consagra, Dorazio, Guerrini, Sanfilippo and Turcato, established the magazine "Esperienza Moderna", with Gastone Novelli in 1957.
The real protagonist of the artist's creations in these years is paper, the creative medium that Perilli started to appreciate after a journey to Paris in 1947, and that became for him not only a surface for painting but “matter from which emerges the image floating in the deepest unconsciousness”.
“…Starting from paper in my work means that I have to face new creative methods every time, in accordance with the type of material employed and its thinckness, robustness, absorption, roughness, brightness, smoothness, strength, weakness, compactness and flexibility…” (Achille Perilli)
Perilli's early works, executed with tempera, ink or crayon on paper, ended up being explosions and implosions of signs in the space where images could emerge from unconsciousness.
Later, in 1951 the artist's creative impulse underwent a transformation.

Later, in 1951 the artist's creative impulse underwent a transformation.
The crayon lines on cardboard became more and more curved, the colours increasingly dark.
In 1953-54 Perilli's drawings acquired a new structure, with brighter, more intense and often dissonant colours.
Colour itself was the backbone of painting, as in Perilli's works on paper from 1957, where forms and lines followed the rhythm dictated by colour.
The exhibition will be accompanied by the volume, Achille Perilli/Carte 1946-1957. Da Forma 1 all’Esperienza Moderna, curated by Giorgio Chierici, with texts by Nadja Perilli, Angelo Maria Ripellino and Achille Perilli, published by Edizioni La Scaletta.
